The main activity of the club is racing. Races take place every weekend from April through to October on courses around club marks or around the Loch’s many islands. This helps to give a variety of racing to suit us all.

For those less interested in racing we also arrange sail training, cruising and social events such sailing up to the Ardlui at the head of the Loch and cruising around the many islands. There are quiet beaches and historical places to be found on the islands and around the shore, all waiting for you to explore.

We have a variety of yacht types at the club including

  • Hunter 19
  • Europa
  • Sonata
  • Medina
  • 707
  • Sadler25
  • Achillies24
  • Westerly GK24
  • Juno
  • Hawk 20

The Loch Lomond Sailing Club Achilles 24 fleet is probably the biggest in the UK with 19 boats.

We welcome different boat types, as long as it has a Portsmouth Yardstick number of less than 1170. Sportsboats such as the RS K6, VXOne, Melges 24 etc are also very welcome, but usually race with the fast dinghies.

The Club operates a system for launching and recovery of the Keelboat fleet, with a tree mounted davit to help raise and lower masts. We are all there to help each other to carry out these tasks every year at the start of the season and the end. All members now rent a mooring from the club. Moorings are professionally laid, and maintained by the Club. During the closed season, there is hard standing for all Keelboats. This allows you to carry out any repairs to your boat over the winter. We have arranged through a local Outboard company to have engines picked up, serviced and returned during this period, all at competitive costs.
