HistoryThe club was formed in 1873 when group of enthusiasts for the newly popular sailing canoes built a club-house at Rosneath on the Clyde. In the early days cruises and exploration were the main activities, and members sailed their tiny craft as far as the outer Hebrides. A popular adventure was the "three lochs cruise" taking in the Gareloch, Loch Long and Loch Lomond with a portage from Arrochar to Tarbert - a route recently recreated by a small group of present day members. In 1878, the club-house was moved to a location at the southern extremity of Loch Lomond, and in 1933 a new building was constructed on our present site |

The PresentIn recent decades club members have moved into less exacting craft. Our fleet now features a variety of high performance and general purpose dinghies, together with Flying Fifteens and cruiser racers. A small fleet of 10sq.m. canoes provide a link to our club's history. Our activities focus on both club and open racing, with strong fleets turning out every weekend between April and October. Families are not forgotten however, and our club-house at Blair, near Millarochy, on the east bank of Loch Lomond provides a base for numerous evening and holiday cruises and other activities. |
