The Class of 2015… far

We are delighted to welcome to the Club an enthusiastic clutch of sailors. Let’s hope that they all enjoy the club as much as the “lifers” do and that we all get to know each other on and off the water.
Welcome to the best freshwater sailing in Scotland (UK? World !!?)

Roj Carter sails an RS200 with Rachael Cooke
Rachael and Roj met while working at Minorca Sailing so have done a lot of dinghy sailing in the warm waters of the Mediterranean. Welcome home!! (where are you Roj?)

Bjorn Hanghoj, Alan MacDonald and Gerry McNamee All three are the new owners of Achilles ”BALGE” (ex “Kismet”) 680C
“We transferred the boat to a dis-used factory in Linwood over the winter and spent many a wet and windy weekends working on it. We stripped everything off it, rigging, electrical wiring and all deck fittings. All paint under the waterline was also removed from the outside of the boat. All windows and deck fittings were replaced ensuring that everything was water-tight. The boat was re-wired with a brand new fuse panel and painted throughout including the bilges.
We decided to come up with a new name for the boat and finally ended up with : BALGE B – Bjorn AL – Alan GE – Gerry. Watch the video of the restoration on youtube
This name also has another meaning as Bjorn who is Danish explained to us. BALGE roughly translates to ‘old tub’ in Danish. By the way, we don’t think she is an old tub now and we are very proud of her. We now hope to get in as much sailing as we can within the club and have already completed a few races”
