LLSC runs training sessions exclusively for members. We cater for all abilities from beginners to serious racers. We have a number of members qualified as RYA Sailing instructors and Racing Coaches. We also have many experience sailors who are happy to assist those less experienced – just ask!
At least 2 training days are organised each season. No racing takes place on these days providing an opportunity for all, beginner or experienced racer to practice and receive advice and instruction from some of the more experience members or from external personnel.
Junior training sessions for under 18s are run throughout the sailing season. The majority take place on Saturday mornings during May and June. The sessions are run by the more experienced and qualified members and augmented by a number of training days with external RYA coaches. We follow the Volvo Championship Club and RYA training agenda as much as possible, focusing on developing and improving racing skills.
The club has a ‘fleet’ of 4 Optimist dinghies, 4 Topper dinghies and an RS200. The club boats are available for all members to use for racing or training. Many of our junior fleet have their own boats and compete in the Scottish Youth Series as well as some travelling further afield to National and International events in oppies, toppers and 420’s.
The highlight of the season is Family Week, usually in July. Family week is a mixture of fun, games and sailing for the whole family.
Duty Team Training
All members are expected to assist in the running of club activities including the weekend racing program. Training is available for all with specific internal courses for Race Officers and Safety Boat Coxes and crews to ensure the safety of everyone on the water and the smooth running of weekend racing.
Loch Lomond SC is a RYA Recognised Training Centre for powerboat training and provides RYA approved training in RIBs and displacement craft for our members.
